Ashur-rabi 2

(Dead 972 BCE) Ruler of Assyria ca. 1013-972 BCE, 41 years.
Despite his long reign, little is known of it. He took over power from his nephew, Ashur-nirari 4, possibly by force. He fought the Arameans, who took back territory that had been conquered by Tiglath-Pileser 1 a century earlier. He managed to win lands that expanded Assyrian territory all the way to the Mediterranean Sea.
Upon his death, he was succeeded by his son, Ashur-resh-ishi 2.
