Bouïra

Town in north-central Algeria with 75,000 inhabitants (2005 estimate), southwest of the Grand Kabylia Mountains.
It is the capital of Bouïra province with 700,000 inhabitants and an area of 4,439 km².
Bouïra's economy is mainly based upon agriculture specializing in olives and cereals. There is some wine production to the north and rasing of horses, cattle and sheep in the south.
Bouïra is connected with other urban centres by rail and road. Algiers is 110 km northwest, Tizi Ouzou 80 km north, Bejaïa 135 km northeast and Bordj Bou Arreridj 115 km southeast.
