Fatiha
Arabic: 'al-fātiha

The Fatiha, 1st sura in the Koran

Opening sura of the Koran, that doubles as the creed of Islam and as a salutation that expresses strong feelings for important happenings in life, such as love, fidelity, births, marriages and burials.
While the Koran is arranged so that long suras come early, and short suras later, the Fatiha is the first of them all despite being relatively short with its 7 ayas. While the Fatiha never has been suggested as among the first suras revealed, it still belongs to the Meccan period, the first half of the ministry of Muhammad.
The reason for putting the Fatiha first of all suras, is because of its broad aspect and message. It sums up the entire content of Islam, making it special, both in the Koran and in the believers' minds as well.
