City in north-central Morocco with 110,000 inhabitants (2005 estimate), at the edge of the Moroccan upland plateau.
Agriculture and corking are the main activities around Khemisset. The main produce are cereals, olives, citrus fruits and raising of sheep. Of local products, mats made from palm fibres and wool and carved wooden objects are the most important. Khemisset is also a regional market centre.
Khemisset has excellent road connections with other urban centres, lying next to the motorway between Fez and Rabat. Meknes is 55 km east, Fez 105 km east and Rabat 70 km west.
The inhabitants of Khemisset are Zemmour Berbers.

History
Around 1920?: Founded by the French to encourage settlement among Zemmour Berbers.
