al-Mu'tamid
Arabic:
'al-muctamid

(?-892) Caliph of Islam 870-892, belonging to the Abbasid Dynasty.
Although being the official caliph for 23 years, he was no more than a puppet for his brother, al-Muwaffak. al-Muwaffak's reign was a stable and moderate one.
Biography
Around 845: Born as son of Caliph al-Mutawakkil.
891: al-Muwaffak dies, but has already appointed his son al-Mu'tadid as heir. Despite this, al-Mu'tamid is unable to take effective power.
892 October: Dies of alcohol acces. He is succeeded by al-Mu'tadid.
