Ordu
City in northern Turkey with 130,000 inhabitants (2004 estimate), situated on the Black Sea. Ordu is the capital of Ordu Province with 890,000 inhabitants (2004 estimate).
Ordu is the centre of its region, where the main agricultural products are hazelnuts, maize and grain. Fish is caught here and exported, as well as timber.
While being beautifully located on a small bay, the city has few landmarks. But there are some nice old buildings.
History
5th century BCE: Founded by Greek colonists, coming from Sinope. It is named Kotorya.
