King of Ancient Egypt (1108- 1099 BCE), the 9th ruler of the 20th Dynasty. His name was not Ramses. This was a name/title he took when assuming power.
Although we know little about his 9 year reign, we that it was a troubled time for Egypt. His power was still challenged by the high priest of Amon at Karnak, Amenhotep. Thebes suffered from incursions from Libyan tribes.
