Ancient Egypt / New Kingdom / 19th Dynasty /
Seti 2
Other spelling: Sety

Mummy of King Seti 2

King of Ancient Egypt 1200 1194 BCE, 6 years, the 6th ruler of the 19th Dynasty.
Seti was the son of King Merneptah.
The period in which Seti reigned was one of intrigue and many contenders to the throne. The greatest challenge to his position was from Amenmesse, who claimed to be king and took control over Upper Egypt.
Seti 2 was succeeded by his son, the young Siptah, who had a bad claim to the throne with a mother who was just a concubine, and he himself was crippled. He had built a tomb in the Valley of the Kings near Thebes.
