Ancient Egypt / Old Kingdom / 5th Dynasty /
Shepseskare
Other spellings: Shepseskare Isi; Sisiris

Foundations of Shepseskaf's pyramid, Abu Sir, Egypt

King of Ancient Egypt, 4th ruler of the 5th Dynasty, ruling 2455-2448 BCE, 7 years.
So little is known about Shepseskare, that most is left to speculation. Some researches have suggested that his reign was as short as a few months. Evidence for this suggestion is his pyramid, where construction process appears only to just have begun. Theories even suggest that he was preceded by Raneferef, who usually is listed as his successor.
According to most king lists, he was preceded by Neferirkare and succeeded by Raneferef.
