Sirjan
Persian: sīrjān
City in south-eastern Iran with 175,000 inhabitants (2009 estimate), in Kerman province. It is located to a valley between the mountain ranges of Zagros and Kuh-e Bidkhan, at an elevation of 1730 metres.
Local economy is diverse. Agriculture specializes in pistachios. Local craftsmen produce rugs known as geleem. In nearby mines, gold and coal is extracted.
