Teti
Other spelling: Othoes

King of Ancient Egypt, 1st ruler of the 6th Dynasty, ruling 2345-2323 BCE, 22 years.
He married Iput, one of the daughters of King Unas of the 5th Dynasty.
He added the Horus-name Sehetep-tawy, meaning "Pacifier of the Two lands." By this it is understood that his period, or preceding period, was one of instability, possibly a result of provincial governors who claimed more power.
He was murdered, possibly by the command of Userkare, who would succeed him as king. Userkare would just a few years later be removed from power by Pepi 1, Teti's son.
He was buried at Saqqara in a pyramid, 52 metres high, northeast of Zoser's. Next to it, several mastabas were built by his officials, as well as two smaller pyramids for two queens, Iput and Kawit.
The king preceding him was Unas. He was succeeded by Userkare.
