SAQQARA:
Zoser. House of South
The two houses representing the unity of Upper and Lower Egypt, the House of North (left) and the House of South.
The House of the South and the House of the North symbolized the unified Egypt, the northern one had columns made like papyrus and the southern one like lotus. Upon entering, the House of the South you will surprised how quickly it all ends. It only goes 4-5 metres in before you arrive at the storage chamber for statues. But the most interesting part are the two examples of framed and glassed graffiti on the walls. They are generally considered to be the oldest graffiti of mankind, made by the treasury scribe Hadnakhte in the year 1232 BCE, during the reign of Ramses 2.
