KSAR EL-BARKA:
Almost complete ruins

Ksar el Barka

Ksar el Barka

The Ksar el Barka is mainly deserted now, but holds great ruins from recent settlements. The town was established in 1690 by the Kounta tribe.
Slightly north of the ksar, the Gabou plain lies, which was the home of hippopotamuses in times before the Sahara turned into a desert.
