ASILAH:
Town church

Asilah, Morocco

Asilah's church, the San Bartholome lies well out of the medina. It was built by Franciscan priests from northwest Spain. It is still in use by local Christians, being one of a very low number of churches permitted by Moroccan authorities to ring with its church bells every Sunday. Nuns here teach local Muslim children in handcrafts and reading.
The church is open for visitors, any time, admission free. Ring the bell alongside the church.
