One basic, but OK, hotel in town. A new, and far better, hotel 5 km out of town in direction of Sousse.
RESTAURANTS AND ALTERNATIVES
Simple cafés serving equally simple food in town centre. There are slightly better restaurants in, and next to, the town hotel.
NIGHTLIFE
Nothing. The restaurant in the town hotel is licensed, but it has nothing that reminds of night life.
CHANGE MONEY
El Jem has a couple of banks that will give you standard service for changing money.
TRANSPORT
Good connections in either Sousse, Kairouan, or Sfax directions. Choose between shared taxis (faster) and buses (cheaper).
IMPORTANT
If you want the amphitheater all to yourself, arrive before 8.00 o'clock in the morning, before the big tour buses start to arrive.
