TAMEZRET:
Walking up to the white mosque
Tamezret, Tunisia

Tamezret, Tunisia

Look at the white arrow in the lower right corner of the top photo. You cannot go wrong here, and all roads seem to lead up to the white mosque. While doing the short walk, allow yourself to look out over the Nefzaoua plains and try to get a hold of the village of Zeroua in the distance. Other things to interest visitors, are the may oil presses, some ancient, as well as the woollen shawls with their attractive geometrical designs.
The mosque on the top is best viewed from a distance, as it truly is without any real details. There is a little cafe at the top serving tea with almonds, but it may be closed once you get there. The owner doesn't always see the point in waiting for the odd visitors, since the cafe down in the valley gets them all.
